The church of Christ in Cairo was established in February of 1957. The church has a
strong and deep spiritual foundation with a desire to teach the word of God to everyone
in the community who wants to hear. A love of God and mankind causes the church members
to want to "lead wise men to the Savior" for all men, women, and young people who have
the insight to want to know the truth of scripture.
The congregation invites everyone to visit and examine the simple New Testament character
of the group and its close adherence to the scripture in doctrine and practice. The distinctive
plea of the church of Christ is for religious unity based on the Bible. In the divided,
fragmented religious world of today, members of the church of Christ believe that the Bible
is the only possible common denominator upon which people who love the Lord and want to be
part of God's family can unite. In all things the church relies on the authority of God's inspired word, and only that, with no other creed.
The church models itself on the pattern of the early church in the New Testament, in which
God's word provides the authority for independent local congregations, regular observance of
the Lord's supper, a cappella singing, support for the church through giving of one's means,
baptism into Christ by immersion in water, and a genuine commitment in each member to the
Christian life, to spiritual growth, and to sharing their faith. Visitors can learn all
about these Bible principles and many others.
Sunday morning Bible classes begin at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning worship services are held
at 11:00 a.m., evening worship is at 6:00 p.m., with mid-week Bible classes at 7:00 p.m. on
Wednesdays. The church of Christ is proud of the work its members are doing in Grady County,
but not satisfied. Members are praying that in the future--with God's help and guidance--their
plain, straight Biblical teaching will change lives and convert many people to the Lord.
